Well first off, it’s Spring! 🙂 I’m happily busy preparing for another warm season of shows indoors and out, planning some music-centered travel, helping produce a local music series in my community garden, and envisioning the next creative steps for The JHP!

. . .

As of late I’ve been making friends with the good folks at All About Jazz who not only featured a JHP track as the “Download of the Day” recently, but also gave me a full-on interview! Read all about the inner workings + inspirations + thoughts on music and life from yours truly RIGHT HERE! 😉

. . .

Need something a little easier to digest than a whole interview? Check out this Julian Hartwell Trio – AKA The “JHT” – rendition of Herbie Hancock’s fusion classic “Butterfly,” feat. our friend LC the Poet on the mic!

Check out much more video & photos on my Media page HERE!

. . .

Last but never the least, can you believe The Julian Hartwell Project debut album has been out a whole year and a half already!? It’s hard to believe my first full-length release is growing up so fast!…which is surely great motivation to start working on the next one!! Any support you lend will send welcome funds toward the band’s next original recording project which I’m currently brewing up…stay tuned for more news on this cause it’s gonna be BIG!

Need just a bit more convincing first to give The JHP a spin!?? Well here’s what some other folks ‘sides me have been saying…

p.s. more quotes can be found on my Press Page!
“There are so many different styles that you blend in your music that make it a little more memorable. Listening to your music…it’s allowing the listener to really be invited in, and it’s a warm spot. It has a lot of melodies that are memorable. And when you start creating music like that, that’s long-term. And that’s good.”
– Jeff Duperon, WRTI
“This is feel good music that doesn’t get too unapproachable like so many jazz groups get, making music that appeals not only to the head, but to the heart as well…It’s a fresh take on original jazz music, that somehow manages to sound like something old school AND brand new at the same time.”
– Mark Weber Music Blog
“Well worth a sample and repeated spins, The Julian Hartwell Project offers a splendid slice of straight ahead jazz delivered with a fresh new sound…a gifted pianist leading a group of young talented players in their first recording together, this is one musical project that begs for an encore.”
– Ed Blanco, All About Jazz album review
